The Royal Pavilion is a natural home of many decorative dragons: they perch on curtain poles, cling to chandeliers, adorn wallpaper, and some even hide in wooden panelling. Being one of the key motifs in the Chinese-inspired Pavilion interiors, it seems only right to let these mythical creatures take over the building this year. Both Chinese and European dragons will be greeting you in many of the historic rooms.

The exhibition Fire and Water: Dreaming of Dragons in the Prince Regent Gallery will tell the wider story of dragons and showcase extraordinary examples from our collections: From Chinese textiles and porcelain that inspired Europeans, to delicate drawings of dragons by George IV's designers. You could say that the Royal Pavilion dragons are a unique species in the global history of dragons.
