Young People
Brighton & Hove Museums value our younger audiences. We welcome all young people to our sites. We offer relevant, meaningful, and enjoyable experiences.
Our museum collections can tell a multitude of stories, relevant to young people.

Our youth programme is
- For young people aged 13-25
- For those less likely to have access to arts and culture
- Created with community partners and marginalized young people
- A safe space across the city in our 5 venues and 3 gardens
- High-quality creative engagement
- A chance to learn new skills and build confidence
- A opportunity to make new friends, be creative and have fun
Young people have taken part in a variety of ways. They have co-curated displays, programmed events, or worked on creative projects.
Some highlights from the youth programme include,
Annual Photography Club with Photoworks
In 2024, young people took inspiration from a Rembrandt self-portrait. They created photographic self-portraits working with an artist. We displayed these alongside the Old Master at Brighton Museum.

Young Carers
Young carers have taken part in many creative workshops. This included an animation project during the Pandemic and textile workshops.
The group has helped us develop our new community workshops –
Allsorts Youth
Allsorts co-curated a permanent display in our Local History Gallery. Objects chosen by the group, and films they made, highlight hidden LGBTQIA+ history. The group made flags for Trans Pride, as part of our Power to the People session.
