Filming and Photography

Our venues have been the location for many filming and photographic events.

We welcome professional photographers and filmmakers throughout the year. We offer a mix of outside locations and interiors that can suit a range of productions from fashion shoots to historical dramas.

The Royal Pavilion in particular has featured in many well-known feature films and popular TV shows.

Our locations:

  • Royal Pavilion: discover Regency opulence and experience jaw dropping interiors designed to take your breath away. The influence of Chinoiserie, luxurious dining, dramatic saloon and music rooms, royal bedrooms and dragons, all create a grand, unusual but versatile backdrop to your project or production.
  • Royal Pavilion Garden: a historic Grade II listed garden and one of the few remaining Regency gardens in the country. Whether you’re promenading through the florals or requiring a backdrop of stunning regal opulence, this space can be intimate or palatial depending on your needs.
  • Preston Manor & Gardens: a versatile filming and photography location with its grand Edwardian interiors, servant quarters, and picturesque gardens—ideal for period dramas. With an authentic upstairs-downstairs feel, beautiful walled gardens and a hint of ghostly intrigue, it brings history and atmosphere to any project.
  • Booth Museum of Natural History: a unique location with its striking Victorian dioramas, atmospheric gallery of bones, and a charming period parlour. Perfect for historical settings or evocative, moody scenes, it’s a space rich in character and intrigue.
  • Hove Museum of Creativity in Brooker Hall, inspired by Queen Victoria’s Osborne House, offers a stunning Victorian home setting. With its elegant rooms and rich history as the former residence of a prominent local family, it provides a captivating backdrop for period dramas and creative shoots.
  • Brighton Museum & Art Gallery: a diverse and historic filming location, with multiple gallery spaces including an Archaeology Gallery showcasing Brighton & Hove’s earliest residents, alongside collections of fashion, performance, art, and Egyptology. Set in a stunning Georgian building, remodelled in the 1870s, it’s perfect for shoots that need history, art, and character.

Each of our sites are perfectly unique for a stunning backdrop or story, whilst our collections have played key roles in bringing beloved CGI characters to life.

All Filming and Photography requests at Brighton & Hove Museums are dealt with by the Marketing Office.
