How to get here
Once the beautiful Victorian home of a prominent local family, Hove Museum is located at 19 New Church Road, Hove BN3 4AB.
Hove Museum of Creativity is just a 10 minute walk from the seafront. It is also 10 minutes from the popular and cafes of George Street.
Buses from central Brighton (North Street or Churchill Square) stop in New Church Road, near the entrance to the museum. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Visit the Brighton & Hove Buses website for more information about bus routes.
We are a 20 minute walk from Hove Station.
There are regular services from London Bridge and London Victoria to Brighton and Hove stations. Other services come into the city from Gatwick airport, Ashford International Eurostar terminal, towns across Sussex, and destinations along the coast.
Pre-booked groups arriving by coach can be dropped off in front of the museum in New Church Road. No on-street parking is available.
Brighton & Hove is a great city for cycling! It's part of the National Cycle Network and Hove Museum is close to Cycle Route 2. You'll find bike racks and a hub for the Brighton BikeShare scheme nearby.
We offer free on-site parking for Blue Badge holders only. For more information about other parking options for disabled visitors, please check our Accessibility page.
On-street parking (pay and display) is available in adjacent streets. For more information about the location of pay and display machines and how to use them, check Brighton & Hove City Council's website.

Hove Museum is a wonderful place for kids! The magical Wizard's Attic is fun for all the family and our displays inspire visitors of all ages.
We welcome unaccompanied children aged 14 and over but those under the age of 14 must come with someone over the age of 16.
Accessibility
Hove Museum of Creativity is an historic building, but we do our best to make it as accessible as possible.
The museum is based on two floors with lift access to the galleries on the first floor. We regret that our first floor fire exit is not wide enough to legally accommodate wheelchairs, so wheelchair access is restricted to the ground floor of the building.

- Buses stop at New Church Road and Sackville Road are a 5 minute walk away. The bus stops have a shelter and seating. See contact information section for more details of bus services.
- Visitors using mobility scooters are asked to leave them at the front entrance and transfer to one of our manual wheelchairs. If you do this, please bring along a companion to push the wheelchair or if you need a member of staff to assist you phone 03000 290900 or email info@rpmt.org.uk in advance to book someone to help.
- If you have a powered wheelchair please note that some of the doorways in the building are narrow or have tight turns so you may not be able to access some areas.
- There is parking available on site for blue badge holders free of charge.
- Additional on-street parking (pay at machine) is available in adjacent streets.
- In Brighton & Hove, providing the badge and time disc are displayed correctly, you can park in a disabled bay, a pay & display bay and a shared use bay but not in ‘resident permit only’ bays.
- Additionally Blue Badge holders with a clock are allowed to park on yellow lines for up to 3 hours provided they are not causing an obstruction and there are no loading restrictions.
- There is a drop off point at the main entrance gate on New Church Road, with a dropped kerb.
- The surface of the drive is tarmac.
- There are 3 steps up to the entrance with handrails on both sides, and a permanent ramp in two parts with gradients of 1:10 and 1:11, also with handrails.
- The entrance door is 87cm wide, with double doors in the lobby of 120cm wide.
- The entrance doors are not automatic but the staff at the front desk are always ready to offer assistance.
- We welcome guide, assistance and support dogs across all of our sites
- Our staff are aware that not all assistance dogs will be wearing a tabard/harness when working or training
- Our staff are aware that not all assistance dogs will be or need to be registered with Assistance Dogs (UK) or the equivalent international scheme, therefore we do not ask to see any registration paperwork for you to bring your assistance dog onto any of our sites
- Water bowls are available for your dogs at all of our sites, please ask a member of staff.
- Other animals - Enquiries should be directed through the Booking Office and they will refer them on to the Director Of Engagement and Public Programmes for consideration.
- The main entrance is situated on the ground floor and has a tiled, level floor.
- The area is well lit with overhead lighting.
- There is a lowered section of the reception desk.
- There is a hearing induction loop fitted.
- Pen and paper are available on request.
- There is a pictogram map of the museum in the entrance. A braille guide is also available
- Signage has clear font of a reasonable size, and pictograms are used for directional signage.
- The ground floor galleries all have level wooden flooring.
- Most galleries are well lit with overhead lighting.
- The Wizard’s Attic on the first floor has low levels of overhead lighting and low lighting levels in cases.
- The mini cinema on the first floor has low lighting levels.
- There is a ramp through to the Education room. The tables here have space for visitors in wheelchairs.
- There are stairs to the first floor with 5+9+10 steps with handrails.
- The lift access door is 80cm wide, and the interior has a floor space of 140cm x 104cm. The lift has a fold up seat, tactile buttons and voice announcements.
- On the first floor there are several small galleries linked by ramps, with a non-slip covering, 80cm wide at the narrowest point. The ramps are between 1:9 – 1:17.
- Flooring on the first floor is wood or lino.
- The narrowest doorway is 80cm.
- There are some audio listening posts (with transcripts available), and also videos of early film which have no text.
- Some areas have low lighting levels in the cinema and film area in order to help display the images.
- There is a pictogram map of the first floor in the foyer.
- Seating for visitors is available around the first floor.
- Public toilets are located on the ground floor with level access from the entrance and non-slip flooring.
- There is an accessible toilet with a door 90cm wide.
- There is a transfer space to the right of the toilet which is 45cm high.
- There are vertical and horizontal grab rails.
- Colour contrast is low with white fittings and light blue walls.
- The washbasin has lever taps.
- There is an alarm cord with both a visual and audible alarm.
- Baby changing facilities are also provided.
- On the first floor there is a toilet suitable for ambulant disabled visitors.
- A hazardous waste bin is provided.
- There is a shop selling a range of gifts and crafts/artwork, situated in the main entrance area.
- There are tall display units, with staff available to assist if needed.
- Outside there is a large level lawned area.
- Paths are level tarmac.
- Wooden benches are placed at intervals around the garden.
- We have a set of evacuation procedures and should you require it someone will assist you with evacuation either out of the building or to a refuge.
- All information brochures are produced in a minimum of 12 point font, and some are available in large print.
- Assistance dogs are welcome in the building.
- Clear signage is used throughout the building with a clear font of black lettering on a white background.

Buses have easy access for boarding and space for 1 wheelchair or any vehicle with a parking brake. Scooters are not permitted.
- The Brighton and Hove bus timetables are available on-line or in large print.
- Main bus stops have “real time” information screens for passengers, and most buses have visual and audible announcements of the next stop.
- Award winning Talking Bus Stops are also available in the city if you are blind or partially sighted. People using the scheme have a battery-operated key fob which alerts them when they are near a talking bus stop. Pressing the fob allows you to receive spoken information on which buses are coming and when they will arrive.
