There are several independent museums in Brighton & Hove which are not part of the Royal Pavilion & Museums.
The city is also home to organisations and individuals with private heritage collections which can be accessed online.
Museums
Dating from the 1820s, this Grade II listed building still has the original mill workings in place over five floors.
Discover how grain is turned into flour in a traditional windmill, and explore a fascinating display of historical milling and agriculture exhibits.

Underneath the arches at Brighton Railway Station is a veritable treasure trove of Toys and Models.
There are over 10,000 toys and models on display with a priceless model train collection and many period antique toys.

The old Police Cells Museum is housed in the basement of Brighton Town Hall and offers visitors a unique insight into the history of policing in Sussex and is both educational and entertaining.
It provides an opportunity to visit Brighton Borough main police station for the period 1830 to 1967 and learn about the murder of Chief Constable Henry Solomon in 1844 by a prisoner.
See some of the old cells with their graffiti from the Mods and Rockers era, the policemans wash room and uniform store areas, police memorabilia and artefacts.
