Find out all about homes in the past in Brighton’s most famous Victorian manor house.

Its 1897 and you have a place on the highly respected School for Servants course at Preston Manor.

You will learn how to clean a house, how to speak and act as servants and how to look after the family pets. There are many daily chores to learn as the house needs dusting, the floors need sweeping, the beds need making and the fireplaces need polishing.

See if you can successfully pass the course to become a qualified Victorian servant.

Preparation for a trip back in time

Please do all come dressed as Victorian servants – adults included.
You can all give yourselves Victorian names as well.
You will all be in role and treated as Victorians from the moment you enter the house.

Allergies

Children will grate / grind:
• Mustard seeds
• Coriander seeds
• Dried cloves
• Nutmeg

Children will weigh:
• Wheat free macaroni

Our Learning Assistant will use in a demonstration
• Lemon juice
• Bicarbonate of soda
