We are recruiting a part-time Personal Assistant (Sighted Support Worker) to work with Liz Porter, Museum Development Officer (Surrey and Kent) working as part of the Museum Development South East team.

The Museum Development Office role is fast paced and extremely varied and concentrates on supporting the development of museums (mainly independent) in Surrey and Kent. A key part of their role involves working closely with colleagues within the MDSE team. It is a strategic support role that interacts with many different stakeholders and partners within the South East.

This is a practical role but will suit someone who is looking to learn more about the museum sector as a whole.

Liz is visually impaired and deaf in her left ear and requires sighted assistance to enable her to fulfil her role. Your role will be supported through the Access to Work Scheme and while recruitment will be undertaken through RPMT, employment will be via London Ability, an external agency (*see note below).

The role will include providing support with email, calendar and document management, sighted guiding and description for wayfinding/orientation, and note taking for meetings. It will also involve carrying out research and gathering data. A full list of duties is included in the job description.

The role with be mixed remote working and in person (based in Brighton) and travel for site visits and meetings in Kent and Surrey – a laptop will be provided.

You will need to be a car driver and have access to a car for some of the site visits. Travel costs will be reimbursed.
