British Museum Loan: From Burma to Myanmar

Object from our Burmese Collection on display at the British Museum

We are delighted to announce that a selection of nine objects from our Burma Collection and The James Henry Green Charitable Trust Collection will be displayed at the British Museum from 2 November to 11 February 2024

As part of the loan agreement, the British Museum has generously funded the conservation treatment for five of the textiles, which now look spectacular.

The exhibition, “Burma to Myanmar,” delves into the transition of Myanmar, also known as Burma, from its status as an influential superpower to a repressive regime, leading to significant fluctuations in fortune over the past 1,500 years. Beginning around AD 450, the show explores how Myanmar’s diverse peoples interacted with each other and the world around them, giving rise to new ideas and art forms.
