A Royal Pavilion Visitor Services Officer explains the features of the Banqueting Room to a group of visitors

What the role involves

As a guide, you’ll help create unforgettable experiences for visitors from all over the world. You’ll bring our buildings, collections and stories to life while working closely with our front of house teams to deliver exceptional service.

You’ll meet tour groups of all ages and backgrounds, so you’ll need to be adaptable, confident and quick thinking. Many of our guests don’t speak English as their first language, making clear, engaging communication essential. We are keen to offer tours in German, so are looking for guides who are proficient German speakers.

What we’re looking for

  • A warm, engaging communicator with a passion for storytelling
  • Confidence working with diverse groups in a lively, fast moving environment
  • Proficiency in German is essential — and French or another modern European language is a real advantage
  • An interest in the history of the Royal Pavilion (full training and tour content provided)

There will also be opportunities to contribute to the research and development of new tours, helping shape how we share our museums’ stories in the future.

This is a casual role, offering flexibility with no guaranteed hours. We’ll contact you when shifts are available, and you’re free to accept or decline to suit your schedule. Each tour lasts one hour, and guides are paid 1.5 hours per tour.

If you would like to have an informal discussion regarding this role, please email Dan Cox, Head Guide at daniel.cox@rpmt.org.uk.
