The Garden Greeters are a volunteer scheme for the Royal Pavilion Garden, established by Brighton & Hove Museums and Brighton Dome Brighton Festival Ltd.

 

We are currently looking for 3 or 4 volunteers to be Garden Greeters for Brighton & Hove Museums from June until the end of September 2024.

Volunteering as a Garden Greeter is great way to meet new friends and contribute to your community and to Brighton & Hove Museums. This is an unpaid volunteering role delivered in cooperation with the Brighton Dome Brighton Festival Ltd.

As a Garden Greeter you are invited to contribute 3.5 hours p/week (with breaks) on either a Saturday or Sunday, in the Royal Pavilion Garden. You will greet visitors, answer questions from members of the public, direct people, and give out information.

As a volunteer working for the Garden Greeters scheme you will ideally

  • be able to be mobile and able to stand and walk around our gardens.
  • be confident to approach people.
  • learn quickly and relate what you have learnt to members of the public.
  • be reliable, on time, and flexible.
  • enjoy communicating with people.
  • be able to summarise the explain information and new events.

If you chose to participate, you will go through an induction and be trained by a member of staff or another volunteer. You will be provided with a Garden Greeter t-shirt, sash, badge, bag, and all up-to-date information about the Royal Pavilion & Museums estate.

If you would like to express an interest

The opportunity is for five months, with shifts of 3.5 hours available each morning and afternoon. You can offer as much or little time as fits with you, but we do ask for a minimum of two shifts per week if possible.
