The Bevendean Dig Open Day

The Bevendean Dig is taking place from Monday 23 June to Monday 30 June 2025.
Led by Flick Howell from Archaeodiscovery and Brighton Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC), the excavation at Farm Green will focus on the site of the former Lower Bevendean Farm, which was demolished when the estate was developed after the war. It aims to uncover the 16th farmstead once located there.
The team will have a FREE Open Day on Saturday 28 June, 10am – 3pm.
Our Curator of Local History & Archaeology, Dan Robertson, alongside Assistant Curator Alexia Lazou, will have a stall there on the day. Visitors will have the opportunity to get up close with archaeological finds from the locality, view images of the estate as it was developed, and chat with our friendly museum staff. Dan will also be bringing along the Falmer Hill ‘Sussex Loop’ – the same one he showed to the Morris group in the Royal Pavilion Garden in May.
Pop along to see them and the archaeologists, and enjoy a tour of the site, displays, activities and performances. You can find out more information on the Archaeodiscovery Facebook page.
