Plants

The Garden is laid out according to John Nash’s original plan of the early 1820’s. The archives show detailed accounts for the construction of the Garden which began in 1816. They record the number and species of all the plants delivered by John Wilmott’s Lewisham nursery. The plants that can be seen today contain examples of nearly all the species mentioned in the nursery bills.
