Kickoff for Albion 125th Anniversary
Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club today officially began the countdown to its 125th anniversary, marking 125 days until 24 June 2026, the date the club was founded in 1901 at the Seven Stars pub on Ship Street.
As part of the citywide celebrations announced by the club, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery will host a major new permanent exhibition dedicated to Albion’s remarkable story.
Opening on Saturday 15 August, Brighton & Hove Albion: Stand or Fall will be an immersive gallery experience charting the club’s journey from its formation through decades of triumph and adversity to its modern-day success. The exhibition will feature historic objects, fan memories, and audio-visual installations capturing the sights and sounds of the Albion’s past, present and future.
Today’s anniversary launch saw the countdown begin in spectacular fashion, with the iconic Royal Pavilion illuminated in the club’s famous blue and white colours.
The museum says it is delighted to be playing a central role in the commemorations.
Hedley Swain, Chief Executive of Brighton & Hove Museums, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be part of Brighton & Hove Albion’s 125th anniversary celebrations. The club is woven into the fabric of our city and this exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to explore not just footballing history, but the social and cultural story of Brighton & Hove itself.
‘Stand or Fall’ will celebrate the passion of supporters, the resilience of the club, and the extraordinary journey that has brought Albion to where it is today. We look forward to welcoming fans, families and visitors from across the country to experience it.”
The exhibition forms part of a wider programme unveiled by the club, which includes a 125 Anniversary Family Festival at the American Express Stadium, a special anniversary match, a city takeover on 24 June 2026, commemorative merchandise and community events across Brighton & Hove.
Further details about the museum exhibition and associated events will be released in the coming months as the countdown continues.
