QM Records is a label / events company founded and ran by Ned and Nicholson from band Normanton Street. Started in 2013 QM Records has been prominent in the Brighton and London scenes representing a DIY ethos with artist development and event promotion.

We wanted to include this article and interview between curator Erin James and Black Business owners Ned and Nicholson (from the band Normanton Street and founders of label/events company QM Records) as a reflection on the ways Black businesses had to navigate not only the personal challenges felt in 2020 but also the experience of continuing to run a business, particularly in such a white-majority city and industry. We want to take a moment to congratulate QM records for continuing to hold strong, 5 years later, and continue to platform many incredible Black Brighton artists such as Kymara, IMAYAH, Mrisi, and more.
