Booth Museum reopening update and exclusive October tours

Exterior of the Booth Museum.

Thanks to the generous grant from the DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund announced earlier this year, we are pleased to be undertaking a much more ambitious transformation of the Booth Museum of Natural History than originally planned. To ensure we fully deliver on these exciting new gallery enhancements, our official reopening has been moved to February 2027.

However, you won’t have to wait until next year to see the progress. To celebrate the incredible milestone of 150 years since Edward Thomas Booth first displayed his pioneering bird dioramas, we are opening our doors for exclusive Booth Diorama and Stores Tours on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October. These special anniversary tours offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at our museum stores and an exclusive sneak peek of the transformation underway before we officially unveil the new-look Booth in February.
