Begin your IT career with Brighton & Hove Museums
Would you like the opportunity to start a career in IT and digital support while gaining practical experience in a unique museum setting?
Brighton & Hove Museums has an exciting opportunity for a Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprentice to work with the Head of IT across our museum sites, historic buildings and public-facing services, including the Royal Pavilion.
This apprenticeship will help you build the skills needed to support staff, systems and digital projects in a busy charity. You will learn how technology helps our teams work well, care for collections, welcome visitors and improve services. You will receive support from the Head of IT, the training provider and colleagues across the Trust throughout the apprenticeship.
About the role
This is a varied digital support role, not a traditional helpdesk post. We already have an outsourced IT helpdesk, so you will focus on the tasks where local knowledge, site presence and clear communication make the biggest difference. You will help staff use technology confidently, support basic troubleshooting, assist with devices and equipment, and help coordinate issues with the helpdesk or suppliers where needed.
You will also gain experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, account administration, document libraries, forms, internal guidance, data tasks, approved AI tools, simple digital workflows and PowerApps. The role will also involve supporting technology used in a museum environment, such as public-facing digital displays, audio-visual equipment, ticketing, retail or café systems, and other systems that help us run our sites and improve the visitor experience.
Additional information
Apprentices without evidence of level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completing training and you may be required to take an English and Maths assessment prior to a formal offer being made.
For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement the apprenticeships English and Maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. British Sign Language qualifications are an alternative to English qualifications for applicants whose primary language is BSL.
Please note, your application will be shared with the training provider. The duration of the apprenticeship will be up to 13 months depending on experience.
