Brighton & Hove Museums Trust is a leading cultural charity responsible for caring for over one million objects and some of the city’s most iconic buildings, including the Royal Pavilion. Alongside preserving our collections and heritage, we operate a diverse and commercially active organisation with admissions, events, retail, catering, fundraising and venue hire across multiple sites.
We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our Finance team and play a key role in ensuring our purchase ledger and finance operations run efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchase ledger or accounts payable experience who enjoys working in a varied finance role within a unique and purpose-driven organisation.
What you’ll do
You’ll support the efficient day-to-day running of the finance function by processing supplier invoices, payments, expenses and cash transactions accurately and in line with financial controls. You will manage purchase ledger activities, resolve queries with suppliers and colleagues, reconcile accounts, support VAT and month-end processes, and help maintain effective purchasing systems. You’ll provide ad-hoc support for sales ledger and office administration.
What we’re looking for
You will have previous experience in a purchase ledger, accounts payable or finance administration role, with a proven ability to process high volumes of invoices and carry out supplier reconciliations accurately. You will have a good understanding of financial controls and purchase order processes, strong Excel and IT skills, and excellent attention to detail.
