Conservation team on the scaffolding tower in the Banqueting Room

12 – 23 January 2026

Visit the Royal Pavilion this January for a behind-the-scenes chance to see our expert Conservation team at work.

From 12 to 23 January, visitors can explore the Music Room and Banqueting Room while watching the team as they tackle the monumental task of cleaning the Pavilion’s chandeliers and curtains.

The team of up to 12 staff will work full-time on these tasks, which will require two scaffolds and two genies. The Pavilion’s usual walking route will be adjusted. This will allow them to work methodically around the area, looking for any material changes, undertaking integrated pest management duties, and conducting condition checks as they go.

They will also be undertaking collection care tasks to remove surface dust from the pelmets, murals, curtains, and chandeliers and to check for mould.

Experience a different side to the Pavilion this January, enjoy the gentle sounds of conservation as you watch the team at work. Make the most of this behind-the-scenes opportunity and visit more than once to see how they progress and reveal the beauty of the Royal Pavilion.
