Contract: Casual role
Salary: £14.13 per hour
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Location: On site, predominantly on the Royal Pavilion Estate in central Brighton but the postholder will work across all sites across Brighton & Hove Museums portfolio.

Brighton & Hove Museums are looking for an enthusiastic Facilities Assistant to join their team. The Facilities Team is collectively responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the buildings, and the post holder will provide practical support in the daily maintenance and compliance of the historic Grade I and II listed buildings.

The successful applicant will be based at the Royal Pavilion and will undertake a diverse range of tasks across various heritage and historic buildings in Brighton and Hove.

The successful applicant would be expected to assist with

  • Internal and external general maintenance and repairs
  • Clearance of gulleys and drainage systems
  • Manual labour for the function and operation of the buildings.
  • Transportation of materials, equipment and tools to facilitate the operational service.
  • Monthly utility data collection
  • Regularly working at heights including assisting roof repairs

The successful applicant will have

  • Basic understanding of UK building regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Technical qualifications or certifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in plumbing, electrical installation, building services or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience of working within a public-facing organisation

As this is a casual role, there are no guaranteed hours. You will be contacted when shifts are available, and you can accept or decline the shift to suit your circumstances.
