Stone Carving Workshops at Hove

On Sunday 10 March we held our first stone carving workshop at Hove Museum of Creativity for Moda, Hove Central.

The event was a great success with over 30 people, of all ages, taking part, trying stone carving for the first time and learning about the tools and techniques involved.

Talented sculptors George Griffiths and Edgar Ward delivered an enlightening workshop, talking about the history of this ancient skill and their new extensive trail of limestone sculptures for the new Moda, Hove Central neighbourhood.

All of the sculptures in the trail will be hand carved in limestone and they will depict flora and fauna that is native to the region. Participants were asked to share their thoughts for this new art trail and help shape the future of public art in their community.

It was a wonderful afternoon of creativity, learning new skills and having fun. Thank you George and Edgar – we can’t wait until the next one!

We will be holding another workshop with George and Edgar on Sunday 24 March at Hove Museum 1-5pm . This event is a free of charge drop-in event.
