Spectacular spooky family fun this Halloween

Pumpkin patch

From pumpkin picking at Preston Manor to big scares at BOOth Museum of Natural History, families looking for some unusual Halloween activities in October half-term are invited to experience the spooky side of Brighton & Hove Museums.

We’re putting on a variety of activities and events over the Halloween period for all ages. Highlights include a Pumpkin Patch at Preston Manor (18-31 October) where families can pick their own pumpkins and get involved in a spooky mystery trail, marshmallow toasting and craft workshops.

On 25 October, 14-year-olds and over can sign up for an eerie evening of fun at BOOth Museum of Natural History, with a behind-the-scenes peek at this eclectic Victorian museum, while discovering more about taxidermy with Jazmine Miles-Long and other scary surprises.

On 29 October, teens can experience a scary Ghost Tour at Preston Manor considered one of Britain’s most haunted buildings. The tour around the historic Edwardian manor house will explore stories of ghosts and paranormal activity said to have happened in the house. Aimed at 13–16-year-olds, it will be exciting and creepy but will be age-appropriate to avoid nightmares.

There’s a Halloween Special at the Booth Art Club on 30 October for children between 5-13 years. Activities include creating spooktacular monsters and strange and creepy creatures.

Hove Museum of Creativity will open the doors for a day of Halloween crafting fun on 31 October for 5-13 year olds.

There will also be free spooky storytelling sessions at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery on 1 November for children under 5 and under in the morning and over 5 yrs in the afternoon.

CEO of Brighton & Hove Museums Hedley Swain said: “This Halloween, Brighton & Hove Museums offer a unique blend of history and mystery. Whether it’s pumpkin picking, ghost tours, or creative crafts, there’s something for everyone to enjoy whatever their age.”
