The History and Restoration of the Saloon at the Royal Pavilion

£1.95

Description

An eight page highlight guide to the restored Saloon at the Royal Pavilion.

Restored to the dazzling splendour of its original, Robert Jones designed, interior design, the Saloon re-opened to the public on 8 September 2018. Decorated for King George IV in 1823, visitors can step into a room of breath-taking beauty and experience history at its visually stunning best.

The painstaking and highly-skilled work has involved recreating the original silver and ‘pearl white’ wall decoration, using platinum leaf instead of silver to prevent tarnishing, installing specially-woven silk panels and magnificent drapery and conserving and restoring the gilded frames and surfaces.
