A luxurious pure silk chiffon scarf inspired by Saloon carpet at the Royal pavilion, Brighton.Taken from preparatory drawings by Royal Pavilion conservator Anne Sowden.
The carpet was an integral part of Jones’s overall design for the saloon. The pattern radiates from a central sunflower, a motif repeated throughout the room. The boarder of flowers and leaves was botanically accurate and specific summer plants growing in the Royal Pavilion’s gardens have been identified. The lotus leaves repeat a motif seen on the chimneypiece and on the cabinets supplied for the room.
Each scarf measures 180 cm x 53 cm.
