This beginner level ‘Wikithon’ is inspired by The Lionesses’ recent Euros win and Brighton Museum’s exhibition Goal Power! Women’s Football 1894-2022.

Less than 20% of English language Wikipedia biographies are about women. Many female footballers are missing or underrepresented.

We will show you how to add to the Wiki coverage of under-sung historic, feminist footballers.

The session will be led by Wikimedia trainers Ceryl Evans of Brighton Museums and Dr Alice White of the Wellcome Collection. Professor Jean Williams will give a brief historical overview of some of the women who have dedicated their lives to the ‘beautiful game’.

This interactive session is aimed at complete beginners, but more experienced Wikipedia editors are very welcome to join.

To take part, you will need access to a computer or laptop with sound enabled, a registered Zoom account and an internet connection. There may be some additional set up necessary for Wikipedia editing. We will send out any relevant information and links to registered participants before the event.
