Join Photoworks and Brighton & Hove Museums this autumn for a free programme of creative workshops for young people aged 13 – 16 led by award winning photographer Alejandra Carles-Tolra.

For this very special edition of Photography Club, we are excited to be part of the National Gallery’s National Treasures* tour as Brighton & Hove Museums are hosting a painting by Rembrandt.

Club features:

  • Day trip to the National Gallery in London.
  • Participation in a professionally produced and curated exhibition at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.

Taking the Rembrandt self-portrait as a creative starting point, Alejandra and the group will explore portraiture and themes of representation, considering what defines our identities and our sense of belonging.

Young people’s artwork will be exhibited as part of the museum’s major exhibition National Treasures: Rembrandt in Brighton; Self Portrait at the Age of 34 next May.

Workshops feature practical activities and collaborative exercises and are designed to be playful and fun, with a focus on creativity and skills development.

No previous experience or specialist kit is required. We provide everything you need.

Please note: this club will prioritise young people facing disadvantage. Please complete our simple registration form to sign up. If you would like to chat about any aspect of this in confidence ahead of taking part, please get in touch.

We will help you gain Bronze Arts Award accreditation in sessions.
