This is a dark talk planned to coincide with the advent of Hallowe’en when “the veil between the two worlds is at its thinnest”.

Geoffrey Munn will explain the importance of superstition and magic to our ancestors and will be showing all manner of charm stones used to ward off poison, disease, the evil eye and even fascination by witches! Unicorn’s horn, toadstones and bezoars are top of a long list of apotropaic materials and Geoffrey will explain that faith in them has not completely ebbed away! This is a disquieting presentation, not suitable for the faint hearted…..

Geoffrey Munn is a jewellery specialist, historian and writer, best known as a presenter on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.
