We want to inspire and excite our communities through opportunities to connect with our museums. We know that there are many people in Brighton & Hove who do not visit our museums, so we actively seek ways to work with communities so that more people can enjoy our collections and buildings.
Each year we partner with communities and other organisations across the city to run projects which can open up our collections to new audiences and inspire a powerful sense of shared ownership. These projects are often aimed at key audiences, and allow us to work in new and exciting ways.
We’ve been working for several years with Rocket Artists, an Arts Council funded group of learning disabled artists. The Rocket Artists regularly work with the University of Brighton’s MA Inclusive Arts programme to produce art works inspired by our collections.
Mill View Hospital project (2013)
In early 2013 we worked with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to enable mental health service users to create new artworks incorporating images from our collections.
