Today is World Whale Day (20th February)
We are privileged to have one of the magnificent mammals in our collection.

The female Orca whale was washed ashore opposite the Brighton Aquarium, 22nd May 1935. The cause of death was evidently a blow from the bow or screw of a ship. The estimated time of death was 14th May 1935.

If you’re in Falmouth, why not pop into the National Maritime Museum and see our Brighton Orca, whose skeleton is the centrepiece of their fantastic Monsters of the Deep exhibition!
