I have just discovered this film of the pet crmetary. How many happy memories of my childhood it has brought back. I was born in a nursing home in Beaconsfield Villas on the 9th of May 1945, right at the end of the Second World War, and subsequently lived in Balfour Road until we moved to Hailsham when I was nine.
Preston Manor and the Park were virtually my play ground. I loved the garden and always the pets cemetery. Of course that was before Preston Road was widened, robbing The Manor of a goodly part of it’s garden. I have since brought my own two sons to see the Manor and it’s garden and have a picture of them by the mounting block. I am so pleased that you are promoting the garden and the pet cemetary and do hope that sometime in the future the little grave stones will be restored once again.
