Yesterday being Christmas Day, the good old English fare, Roast Beef and Plumb Puddings, was liberally dealt out with all the wonted hospitality of the season, in defiance of Bonapart, and his half-starved hungry legions, who must have acknowledged the superior benisons of the British Government, could they have witnessed the mess boards of the Soldiery at our barracks – all smoaking with pudding and beef, in honour of the festive day.
