The Booth Museum welcomed a visiting Russian scientist recently.
Dr Evgeny Popov from the University of Saratov is a palaeontologist who researches fossil sharks. The collections in the Booth are rich in chalk fossils, especially those donated by Henry Willett in 1860, and Dr. Popov was interested to see the many wonderful specimens he obtained.
Saratov is a major city in southern Russia, situated on the Volga River and home to a population of over 800,000 people. Dr. Popov will eventually publish the results of his research and then yet more of the Booth’s fossils will then be added to our on-line catalogue of published specimens.
