About six o’clock on Friday evening last, his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales arrived at Brighton, in consequence of which the bells were set a ringing, and the town, in some parts, illuminated. Her Royal Highness, we are informed was to have accompanied the Prince had she not been prevented by the indisposition of the infant princess; for whose reception an elegant nursery has been constructed at the Pavilion.
From The Sussex Weekly Advertiser, 1796
The infant child mentioned in this article is Princess Charlotte, the subject of our current exhibition in the Royal Pavilion.
