Children and families love to explore the Booth Museum, a quirky treasure trove of birds, bones, butterflies and biology.
The Booth Museum runs popular Early years sessions for 2-5 year olds which include handling objects, getting messy with arts and crafts and listening to a story. During school holidays we often host events where live animals can be experienced too. Search What’s On to see our current events.
The gift shop sells lots of ‘pocket money’ toys and gifts on the theme of natural history. The store has recently been rebranded to reflect our environmental stance so most disposable plastic items have been replaced with more ecologically conscious examples.
Birds of a Feather Trail

During opening hours Free, drop-in. All ages
Search Mr Booth’s bird cases to find the most unusual nests, the bird with the biggest wings, and one of the UKs smallest birds. Our family trail highlights some of the UKs best loved birds and their habitats using our wonderful Victorian collection.
We welcome all unaccompanied children aged 14 and over to all our sites. Children under the age of 14 will need to be accompanied by a person aged over 16.
Please do not run in the galleries as the vibrations can damage objects and cases have been broken in the past by children running into them.
We will happily store prams and buggies while you visit our venues. We regret that we do not have the facilities to store any luggage or Items larger than 40x40x50cm. Luggage larger than this will not be allowed inside Booth Museum for safety and security reasons.
