New for 2019: Children’s Trail

Photocall: Tuesday 28 May 2019 at 10.30am Preston Manor, Preston Drove, Brighton, BN1 6SD

Explore Preston Manor this summer with the help of our new children’s trail.
Real life twins Lily and Diana were born in Preston Manor in 1866 in the Victorian period.

Their home-schooling is the starting point of the trail, where pet dog Little Jim sets the scene. Wondering about the wider world, but confined to their schoolroom, Jim encourages the girls instead to explore their own house.

Using rhymes, riddles, playthings and clues visitors can join Lily, Diana and Jim as they move through Preston Manor, having fun along the way.

There are activity boxes with simple games to play and books to read. Parents and older siblings can help younger children to join in the adventure, providing fun for all the family.

The Riddle Trail by Preston Manor staff has been designed to entertain children as well as to introduce them to Preston Manor and its previous occupants. The trail invites families and their children to explore this historic building, following the clues to move around the building, solving riddles, and enjoying activities along the way.

Notes for Editors

Preston Manor

Preston Manor, part of Brighton & Hove City council is a charming historic house, decorated and furnished in Edwardian style. Its elegant reception rooms and functional servants’ quarters reveal the ‘upstairs and downstairs’ of life at the manor before the First World War.
