This is an albumen photographic tourist print collected by the Stanford family and shows a bronze held in the Museum of Palermo, Sicily. The bronze statue shows a man wrestling a stag; holding onto its antlers. Printed in a band below the bottom of the print is, PALERMO MUSEO Ercole & il Cervo, this roughly translates to Ercole and the red deer, the albumen print number 9075, the photographer?s name, Sommer, and Napoli. Giorgio Sommer was Italian; he was born in Frankfurt Germany (1834 ? 1914), and worked in Naples, Italy, producing numerous albumen prints from glass negatives.
