The Magical Machines of Rowland Emett

Quirky automata, magical mechanical contraptions from the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and fabulous flying machines are among the whimsical and wonderful inventions of Rowland Emett (1906-1990).

The Exploratory Lunacycle has brought its moon rock samples to Hove Museum and the Humbug Major is thinking of sweets.

The Featherstone Kite Flying Machine has swooped into Brighton Museum

The Little Dragon Carpet Sweeper is cleaning in the the Booth Museum

and at Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft The Fairway Birdie is playing golf.

In collaboration with The Rowland Emett Society

Please note: We are very sorry but there is no Rowland Emett machine on display at the Royal Pavilion as advertised in the May-August 2015 What’s On.
