This photographic print shows Sikh soldiers seated in a tented Gurdwara in the grounds of the Royal Pavilion. The photograph was taken during the First World War when the Royal Pavilion estate was used as a military hospital for Indian soldiers who had been wounded on the Western Front. A Gurdwara is a place of worship for the Sikh faith. It houses the Guru Granth Sahib, a book of holy scripture for Sikhs.
