Chain Pier at Brighton During the Late Tempest.

This print is dedicated to Captain S. Brown, the designer of the Chain Pier. There is a coat of arms in the centre of the title. The view shows the storm of 23 November 1824 raging to the right as the waves bash the seafront. In the foreground are three men pulling a boat on to Marine Parade and two others behind them pulling an unseen boat from the sea. A woman feints and is held by two men as a man carries luggage across to the New Steine. In this print there are three men at the entrance to the pier, not seen in other copies. [Dup]
