This is a photographic print of St James's Gardens, Brighton. It is a view across several of the gardens in this street. The photograph was commissioned by the Environmental Health department of Brighton Borough Council. It was intended to serve as part of a visual record of areas considered for slum clearance. St James's Gardens was demolished in about 1936.
