Photographic Print

This is a photographic print of Gloucester Place, Brighton. It is a view southwest. Numerous large advertisement posters can be seen on the side of the building on the corner of Blenheim Place. The Astoria Cinema can also be seen on the right of the photograph, and tram lines are visible in the bottom left corner. This photograph was taken by the Borough Surveyor's department. It may have been taken to record the Astoria Cinema shortly after it was built in 1933. The construction of this building required the demolition of several smallholdings and tenements in the street.
