Brighton News Story – 27 October, 1788: Prince pursues journey at peril of own life

The Prince was so alarmed by accounts he received on Tuesday last of the King’s indisposition that he immediately set off from Brighthelmstone, to attend to his Royal Father, and was so hurried on by the warmth of his filial affection, that he pursued his journey at the peril of his own life, for between London and Kew, his Royal Highness was overturned with a degree of violence that broke his carriage almost to pieces; we have however, the inexpressible pleasure to add, providentially without receiving the least personal injury.
